FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive cosmetics procedure that exfoliates and removes the top layer of dry, dead skin cells. It buffs and polishes the skin using a microcrystalline tips then gently vacuums loose skin from the face.
Is Lumina Dermapeel safe?
Yes, microdermabrasion treatment is a safe and common procedure. Unlike laser resurfacing or chemical peels, this procedure is not traumatic and therefore there is no downtime to allow for healing and recovery. But, as always, follow the procedure presented in the manual.
Will there be any downtime?
You will not have downtime or a recovery period. Some customer’ skin turns pink or red. The skin can swell a bit. These side effects are similar to having a sunburn or windburn for a day or two.
Can I use Dermapeel if I have dark or black skin tone?
Microdermabrasion is safe and suitable for all skin tones including black or dark-colored skin. Also, Dermapeel is designed to gently buff away dead skin using our diamond microcrystalline tips. However, we suggest using the device in its lowest settings on your first few sessions until you build your way up to the highest level.
When can I see the results?
Most users receive between 4 and 16 treatments. After a series of treatments, patients usually say they have smoother skin and a more-radiant complexion.
Am I suitable for microdermabrasion? What if I use acids for my face?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types, ages and tones!
If you're using chemical peels or products containing hydroxy acids, malic acid, lactic acid & retinoids you need to wait at least 3 days before using your handset. It is not recommended to be used on inflamed or irritated skin.
Can I use this to treat acne?
Regular microdermabrasion helps prevent acne by exfoliating the skin to prevent clogged pores and build-up of dead skin that may later become infected and become an active breakout. However, we do not recommend using microdermabrasion on an active acne as it may pop the pimple and spread the acne-causing bacteria.
Will this help suns/brown spots?
Yes. Regular microdermabrasion will help fade age spots however, this doesn’t happen overnight. We recommend to work on the area 2 times per week to help accelerate cell turnover. You should see improvements in 4-6 weeks. It also helps to wear sunscreen or sun-protective clothing to prevent further development of sun/brown spots.
Does it come with warranty?
Yes all Dermapeel comes with a 1 year warranty. We offer full replacements provided the product is not damaged as a result of misuse and your purchase was made directly from Lumina Skin Co.
Can the power outlet work anywhere around the world?
Yes all Dermapeel comes with a 1 year warranty. We offer full replacements provided the product is not damaged as a result of misuse and your purchase was made directly from Lumina Skin Co.
Who should avoid using Dermapeel?
Microdermabrasion is not recommended for people who have deep scars, active keloids, undiagnosed lesions, a recent herpes outbreak, warts on the face, skin cancer, active acne (stages 3 and 4), sunburns or active rosacea, eczema, an auto-immune system disorder, or unstable diabetes. Pregnant women should not undergo microdermabrasion. Individuals with deep scars, facial creases, or other moderate-to-severe skin defects should consider a stronger treatment such as a chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing.
How often can I use it?
At-home microdermabrasion can be used once up to 3 times per week depending on how well your skin can tolerate it. It is safe to do at-home microdermabrasion more often than in-office treatments because we do not exfoliate too deep. We recommend that you do not pass the same area more than twice to prevent cutting too deep in the skin.

After using the Lumina Dermapeel, we recommend that you rinse your face with water to remove skin debris. No need to use a cleanser, just plain water. Follow with an anti-inflammatory serum and moisturizer.
